Our History

Orbis Lumen began in 1994 as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) called Home Grown Systems, helping to usher in the general wide-spread acceptance of the Internet into households across the greater Puget Sound and Seattle areas.

We were part of a group of tightly knit people devoted to helping individuals, families and businesses bring themselves online to this emerging network we now take for granted.

Known for our friendly, honest and devoted service, combined with our commitment to quality and reasonable prices, our uniquely organic business model quickly solidified us into trusted, recommended and sought-after ISP.

Orbis Lumen was created in 1996 as an organization to offer expertise to the customer base, both to individuals and organizations, and to offer custom data and consulting services to the same.

A few years later, Home Grown Systems and the other organizations that comprised Oz.net fell victim to the larger ISP's such as telephone and cable companies that could offer their services at a lower cost. Although our customers remained loyal and we continued to steadily grow nonetheless, a decision was made to sell ourselves into a larger, yet still reasonably-sized ISP that had a greater likelihood of survival in the longer term.

Orbis Lumen remained as a company offering technical expertise to those individuals and organizations seeking to utilize the Internet for various purposes, and to bring their existing information systems into the larger Internetworked world.

We remain an organization founded upon quality, honesty and sensible, simple solutions, where the satisfaction and confidence of our customers is paramount.
