Installing Orbis Lumen Certificate Authority (CA) Files For Encryption

Encryption CA certificates help your programs verify that the machine they are talking to is really the machine they believe it to be.

If you connect to Orbis Lumen servers for email or secure web service you will need to install the Orbis Lumen Certificate Authority (CA) files in your email program and/or web browser if you want to avoid annoying popup messages about your program being unable to verify the server's identity.

Also, if you run servers that have been cryptographically signed and issued by Orbis Lumen, your client programs must install these Certificate Authority (CA) files.

Web Browser

  1. Click on each CA file.
  2. Click on each popup selection to say you trust this cerificate.

Email Program

  1. Download each certificate to your computer by clicking Save As... in your web browser.
  2. Open your email program and choose Edit | Preferences | Privacy | Security
  3. Hit "View Certificates".
  4. Choose the Authorities tab.
  5. Hit "Import" and select the certificate files you downloaded.

After doing this, you will no longer receive warning messages about identity when connecting to Orbis Lumen servers with encryption.

NOTE: If you are using Microsoft products, the CA certificates need to be imported in the Control Panel in the Internet icon.
